I have PS on a windows 8 test VM and tab groups are not available. Not from the View menu nor from the right-click tab context menu.
I have to wonder if this is related to a problem I'm having with WMI on windows 8. None of my vbscripts can get the screen resolution. WMI returns blank values for a few properties of CIM_VideoController, Win32_VideoController and Win32_DesktopMonitor. Does PS make a min screen size check before allowing tab groups?
FYI. I'm using build 138 on both win7 & win8 and tab groups ARE available on win7.
And you can't tell from the screenshot, but I DO have multiple files open.
I also just verified no tab group options on real workstation h/w, not it's not just a VM issue.

Tab groups on windows 8
I have checked on my Windows 8 machine and that is available.
if you right click on the file tab, are the corresponding items also not available, grayed out?

Tab groups on windows 8
The only way I found to get these items disabled is by creating a tab group and activating a file that is in a group by itself.

Tab groups on windows 8
Here is the entire PS window and the right-click menu:
No options to get tab groups. I've tried opening, closing, closing, opening...no joy.

Tab groups on windows 8
No idea at this moment, works fine here under any OS. There is no code that would make it dependant on screen resolution.
I'll find some more Windows 8 machines and try there.

Tab groups on windows 8
Thanks. I tried a few more things like closing when it was full screen, minimized, file(s) opened, no files opened. Can't find anything that makes it act differently. If I come across something I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Gerry
