Upgrade resets settings and template mods. How to prevent?

Post by jmuirhead »

Ok, so every time I apply a new version of PrimalScript to my current install, some settings (User Name, Company, among others) and template modifications disappear. On the latter, I've tried read-only attributes on the file, etc. with no success. Help!

Please list the precise settings and the actual version and build you are using.
Username and company name are "usually" shared from Windows installer between all installations that use MSI.

Thanks for the reply. I lose my customized / changed PS1 template (overwritten, even when flagged RO by the canned one from the install), as well as these settings:

User Name
Company
My Scripts directory

Some of my default (modified) environment settings (call stack/variables/watch) views disappear too after upgrades.

I am using the current build (just upgraded today) of v4.1.53.

Thanks.

4.1.53? I am thinking you are in the wrong forum.
That is a PowerShell Studio and not a PrimalScript version.

Nope. Right forum. Wrong software version, as we own both. ;-)

PrimalScript v7.0.25.

Apologies. :-)

As far as the templates go, Windows Installer will relentlessly remove anything it installed. No matter what attributes you apply.
Store your templates as private templates

The rest is stored in the registry and should not be affected by an update.

To verify, please export the following registry key before
and AFTER the next update and email BOTH to support@sapien.com
inside a zip file.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAPIEN Technologies, Inc.\PrimalScript 2014
