Import existing template in PowerShell Studio

Post by PsCustomObject »

Product, version and build: PowerShell Studio 5.5.155

As per subject I had to reinstall my machine and was wondering if it is possible to carry over Template Files from previous intallation, I have the XML file with all settings and even path is the same but when I try to create a new file the existing template is not displayed.

Second question how I can edit description of one the templates? I created a new one but did not put anything in the description and would like to rectify that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Please zip and upload the files you are trying to copy here:

https://www.sapien.com/support/upload

Also, specify in which folder are you copying the files.

Note that we changed the template format in one of the 2018 service releases. Please refer to the following article:

https://www.sapien.com/blog/2018/04/25/powershell-studio-2018-service-release-v5-5-151/

As for editing, the application doesn't provide an edit feature, but you can easily update the template file to include the description (.pstemplate file).

Thank you,

Thanks David,

I've been able to fix this, in a nutshell my base path should be:

_MyPCFiles\Documents\SAPIEN\Templates\FileTypes\File Templates\

Apparently when I import the XML settings with the custom path PowerShell created a "nested" folder structure with the resulting path being this:

_MyPCFiles\Documents\SAPIEN\Templates\FileTypes\FileTypes\File Templates\File Templates\PowerShell\File Templates\PowerShell

I don't know for the life of me but it happened with 2018 as well, I've now been able reconsile the files and edit the template descriptiopn... I was just doing it on the wrong file that was the main problem :)
