Upgrading to PSStudio when PS7 first supported

Post by DarusDP »

Product: PowerShell Studio 2020 (64 Bit)
Build: v5.7.175
OS: Windows 10 Enterprise (64 Bit)
Build: v10.0.18363.0

I'm at PSStudio 5.7.175 and use PS Version 5.1. I want to upgrade PSStudio to latest but am concerned about PS V7. I don't use any other version of PS than 5.1 and don't want to use PS 6 or 7.

Will upgrading allow me to keep just using PS 5.1?

Are there any issues upgrade beyond PSStudio 5.7.175?

Yes, you can continue just using PowerShell 5.1. PowerShell Studio supports both V5 and V7, side by side and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. PowerShell 7 does not need to be installed if you don't intend to use it.
