CODE folding & CODE formatting problems.

Post by gvonpickartz »

PowerShell Studio 2015 ver 4.2.95 on Windows 7 Pro x64.

I have recently renewed my subscription from version 4.2.86 and did the in-place upgrade to version 4.2.95. Now to my great disappointment I am experiencing horrible code folding and code formatting issues that does not go away even if you reset the options entirely by unchecking all, exiting SPS-2015 and re-enabling it all.

I am stating that I had limited issues (as of before the upgrade) with the code folding and code formatting in version 4.2.86 and now they are snowballed to useless options that I cannot work with but badly need to navigate my code efficiently. I am hard pressed for time to write many PowerShell projects and cannot have these code folding & formatting issues frustrate my work and hinder my productivity.

Please advise urgently

CODE folding & CODE formatting problems.

Post by SAPIEN Support Forums »

This is an automated post. A real person will respond soon.

Thank you for posting, gvonpickartz.

Did you remember to include the following?
  • 1. Product, version and build (e.g. Product: PowerShell Studio 2014, Version & Build: 4.1.71. Version and build information can be found in the product's About box accessed by clicking the blue icon with the 'i' in the upper right hand corner of the ribbon.)
    2. Specify if you are running a 32 or 64 bit version
    3. Specify your operating system and if it is 32 or 64 bit.
    4. Attach a screenshot if your issue can be seen on the screen
    5. Attach a zip file if you have multiple files (crash reports, log entries, etc.) related to your issue.
If not, please take a moment to edit your original post or reply to this one.

I completely understand that this must be frustrating.
It is hard to determine from the screenshots what might throw the parser off, so if possible, it would be best to email a sample file illustrating the issue to support@sapien.com. Please zip the file for emailing.

In the meantime you can go and uninstall and install an older build that works for you. If you need the specific version, you can get it from your accounts page.

I will instruct the team to look at this as soon as humanly possible.

In order to resolve the issue we will need a script that recreates the issue.

You can post a sample script on this topic or you can upload the file under Support->Support Uploads on our site.

Thank you for sending the file. This issue will be resolved in the next service release.

In the meantime, you can get around the issue by inserting a space after the redirection operation:
PowerShell Code
Double-click the code block to select all.
"Text" > "Output.log"

You should also use that same file for the double dollar sign $$ issue I have had with the formatting (when used after editing). Perhaps it needs to SAVE the document before formatting?

What was the $$ issue again? Do you have another forum post about it?
