Hi all,
Not sure where to go because i've tried endless googles but have come back to my trusty community for help.
I have a bunch of images which have had their exif data removed - but the date the images were taken remain in the filename e.g. img-2018-03-23.jpg
I want to somehow take the date from the filename and put it into the metadata "date taken" property.
I'm at a stalemate. I have no idea what to do next. Everything i researched the only answers were the other way around i.e. from meta to filename. But i want filename to meta.
I looked around for powershell guidance but couldn't find, also adobe bridge.
any ideas at all??? thanks

There are numerous utilities on the net which can create tags. There are also libraries that can manage tags in code. Have you searched for these? I ran a simple search and returned hundreds of examples:
"powershell edit exif data"
Try it.
