Script / Policy For Home Folders

Post by aliash »

Dear All,

We need to Deploy HomeFolders for 2500 Users from AD windows 2003 Enterprise.

Once the User logs in the Computer the Drive must be mapped itself.

Due to Virus threat , The Users can allow to permit for certain file formats on their Home Folder i.e : .doc .txt .pdf .ppt .csv .xls ,,,so on.

Every User has its own home folder with full control.

I hope that there is a some script or policy which can allow / deny Users to prohibit with certain file formats ..i.e : .exe .mp3 .avi .sys ,,,,so on.

Because couple of days ago I deployed Home Folders from the Users Properties @ AD but the Server effected with dangerous virus.

If any help please ...!!!

Thanks a lot.

A logoff script would be way too time-consuming - it would cause problems with the logoff process.

http://www.b2net.co.uk/veritas/veritas_ ... entral.htm is what you want.

Parking an event on the server that monitors files would work but if there is a lot of file creation activity it might pose an issue for performance.

What the poster is trying to do can and should be done with Group Policy. The biggest issue, as Don has already pointed out, is clearing the malware from the network. This MUST be done before attempting anything as big as roaming home folders.

Certainly - I've not used the tool myself, but others have spoken well of it.
