PrimalSQL quits responding when writing query

Post by jjdynamite »

In the new versions of PrimalSQL (1.0.6 & 1.0.7), PrimalSQL freezes for 15-30 seconds when trying to pull up the 'quick pick' menu for SQL Edit or within a SQL document. Normally, it would help out by bringing up the tables/fields that are available in the database but now all it does is hender work. Is there a way to disable this feature until it can be repaired?

Database: Oracle 9i
Client O/S: Windows Vista Business x64
Oracle Client: 11g (32-bit)

PrimalSQL quits responding when writing query

We will look into this issue further. The information it is displaying should be cached, thus it is strange that there is such large delay. Also this part of the program has not changed in the latest releases.

Please answer the following questions in order for us to pin point the problem.

-Does this occur on other databases?
-Does this also occur on a simple Select statement?

Please check if the "Store Browser Information" option is checked in the Options Window, under the "Database Browser" Tab.

Thank you,

To answer your question, there is no option to disable the feature.

-Does this occur on other databases? YES
-Does this also occur on a simple Select statement? YES

It seems to happen more with larger databases with more than 10-15 tables. The ones that I am working with now have in the neighborhood of 35+ tables. Could this be causing the issues?

I also checked and the option for 'Store Database Browser Information' is selected.

PrimalSQL quits responding when writing query

Can you zip and email the Database Browser cache information to support@sapien.com? This will allow us to test the PrimalSense without having access to the database.

You can find the cache file (.dat) by going to the Application Data folder:

Vista Path:
C:Users<UserName>AppDataRoamingSAPIENDataSources

The cache (.dat) file will have the same name as the Database connection.

Thank you,

This issue will be resolved in the next service release. You should see an improvement in the PrimalSense speed when dealing with large databases.
